5 Great days out with the kids in Medway.

1. Diggerland – Strood

Arguably one of the most unique attractions in Medway, Diggerland is an entertaining way to spend time with all of the family, especially those that love farm machinery.

Ride the Skyshuttle, spin around on the Spindizzy or sit back and enjoy a gentle ride around the park on the Diggerland train.

With 20 different digger inspired attractions and over 100 machines, it’s easy to enjoy a jam-packed day here. There is also an exciting soft play area and bouncy castle for the kids. 

There are some height restrictions for some rides but this doesn’t mean the whole family can’t be entertained too, little ones will love the soft play area & Little Tikes arena.

2. Rochester Cathedral

Museum of the moon!

The 2nd oldest cathedral in all of England. This stunning piece of architecture stands proudly overlooking Rochester high street. Whilst the cathedral is still a functioning place of worship the building also hosts thought-provoking exhibitions throughout the year. In 2020 it hosted the museum of the moon, a breath taking light installation by UK artist Luke Jerram. Whilst there isn’t a café on-site, a short walk into the town centre provides lots of coffee shops, bakeries and bars to choose from.

3. The Hop Farm Family Park – Maidstone

The Hop Farm Driving School

Just outside of Medway, this place is so much fun for all of the family. Full of lots of individual attractions it’s easy to spend a whole day exploring the hop farm. Little ones can jump the day away on the huge inflatable pillows or explore the soft play. Older kids will love the thrilling laser quest and assault courses.

Catch a magic show or wander amongst the Meerkats and llamas, throughout the day the friendly team at the hop farm give fun animal talks and demonstrations.

Take a picnic or check out Hopper’s diner for snacks and meals served all day. If you fancy something on the sweeter side the onsite ice-cream parlour is waiting for you!

4. Chatham snow sports centre – Medway

Quite easily the premier Snowsports facility in the region, Chatham snow sports centre offer a range of activities on the dry slopes, beat your speed on the toboggan and tube run, or try snowboarding for the first time on the nursery slopes. 

The centre also runs snow sport clubs where you can learn new skills and birthday parties to please all ages. For the more experienced skiers or snowboarder’s the main slope here is a lengthy 200m.  

There is a café/bar and the centre also allows dogs, for viewing only of course!

5. The strand leisure park – Gillingham 

The Exciting Lido

Celebrating its 125th year in 2021 the strand leisure park is a great day out for teens and toddlers alike. 

The huge Lido is a great way to cool off and splash about on a hot day, with slides and bathing areas for all members of the family. After a dip perhaps you might like to challenge someone to a game of tennis on the courts or round up the family for an exciting game of crazy golf. 

There is a great café on sight, providing snacks, ice-creams and drinks but the site also welcomes picnics. Booking is essential here and pool times are restricted so book before you go! All the information you need can be found here.
